Brooklyn-based artist ALONE is a singer, songwriter, producer and activist also known for their work as a DJ, director and stylist. An innovative, self-taught musician, ALONE seamlessly integrates multiple musical genres into a mix all their own. Drawing upon the timeless sounds of Funk, Soul and Rock and Roll, their love of Dance Music and their Middle Eastern roots, ALONE serves up a future-throwback sound that is fresh yet nostalgic at the same time.
Born and raised in Israel, ALONE moved to NYC in the early 2000s to pursue a business degree, and soon became a staple of the underground music and nightlife scene.
In 2009, shortly after graduating, ALONE took a leap of faith and walked away from a promising future in finance to follow their dream of being a musician and fully dedicated their life to music. Under the guidance of Mark "Moogy" Klingman ALONE was able to bring their first songs and compositions to life and started navigating their way to the stage. Following humble beginnings with performances at block parties in Crown Heights, BK and singing in the Mount Pleasant Baptist church choir, ALONE was soon headlining legendary NYC venues such as The Bitter End, Mercury Lounge and Rockwood Music Hall. In 2017, ALONE headlined BAM’s (Brooklyn Academy of Music) iconic Pride festival "Everybooty". In 2019, ALONE headlined Drom’s NYC World Pride concert "Born to Love" celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, as well as The Morrison Hotel Gallery’s Showcase celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival.
Guided by an ambitious musical vision and supported by an ever-growing live orchestra, ALONE delivers electrifying, moving performances known for their celebratory spirit and flamboyant esthetics. Unafraid to challenge the prevalent notions of religion, gender and sexuality, ALONE presents an expansive vision of queerness that is unapologetic, affirming and bold. ALONE also styles or designs all costumes worn on stage by himself and their band.
In 2020, ALONE joined the tens of thousands of people demanding justice for Black Lives and Black Trans Lives in the streets of NYC and took their long-standing allyship with the BLM Movement to the next level. Hearing that call to action and wanting to use their skillset to make an immediate difference in people's lives, ALONE founded Sounds of the Movement in early 2021 — a musical fund-raising project designed to provide opportunities and financial support to Black and Brown artists who have been on the front lines of the BLM protests. ALONE curated, produced and directed the project which debuted as a livestream broadcast from La MaMa Theatre in NYC on April 5th to great success and critical acclaim, and was immediately commissioned by BRAC (Bronx River Arts Center) for a live, in-person performance with an audience on May 22nd, 2021.
On December 10th, 2021, ALONE released their long-anticipated debut single and music video "Everything" — a bright, soulful, feel-good anthem full of affirmation dedicated to the Trans and Gender Non-Conforming community. The music video centers Trans visibility and features ALONE alongside a cast of all Trans and GNC folks dancing and lip synching the song's uplifting lyrics. Recorded with a live band on all-analog equipment, the song pays homage to the shiny, brassy days of Motown with soaring falsetto vocals brimming with post-pandemic joy.
ALONE's follow-up single "Fine" is set to go into production in February 2022.
As a DJ, ALONE was a part of the Disco renaissance movement of the late 2000s with the establishment of their underground dance party 'Planet Zizmor' at the legendary club 'The Hose' in the East Village. Since then they have played DJ sets all over the USA, become a resident of bicoastal parties like Easy, Trick and Nuddies, opened for iconic DJs like Honey Dijon, Rich King, The Illustrious Blacks and played famous NYC clubs like Santos Party House, Mr. Black's, Open House, Black Flamingo, 3 Dollar Bill and more. A master of both analog and digital media and a long-time music collector, ALONE plays a groove-driven blend of House music, Techno and Disco on either turntables, CDJs or DJ controllers, often featuring live instrumentalists while he DJs.
